Bob Jones squad takes top honors

Bob Jones High School's competition cheerleaders recently brought home the highest recognition possible from cheering camp.

The varsity and junior varsity squads spent four days building skills and competing at the Universal Cheerleading Association camp held this summer in Tuscaloosa.

The "Tradition" award, granted by UCA to recognize the best overall squad during camp, was awarded to Bob Jones High School after the varsity and junior varsity squads completed their individual competition.

Bill Sealy, UCA Vice President said, "With over 1,500 cheerleaders participating in the camp representing over 130 schools throughout the Southeast, this honor was a very strong endorsement of the quality of the Bob Jones cheerleading program and coaching staff."

The varsity cheerleaders received first place in dance and extreme routine and thiison Coleman, Amanda Brown, Kelley Eacret, Mallory Fallon, Denise Gerrity, Lauren Gilley, Samantha Kyle, Erin Laing, Kelley McKaig, Ashley Martin, Alicia Mooren, Lauren Palmer, Emily Parker, Courtney Smith, Megan Smith, Kecenia Stevenson, Rachel Underwood and Brewer Wilbanks.

BJHS junior varsity cheerleaders are: Lindsay Atnip, Natasha Austin, Courtney Conerly, Kristen Conerly, Kristene Disbrow, Brittany Griffis, Jenny Groux, Katey McKaig, Shay McKee, Larissa Nall, Alicia Pruner, Stephanie Stratford, Riana Trahan, Jennifer Voorhies, Brandi Wilson and Lauren Woltjen.
